Frequently Asked Questions
What fuse size does the MacDaddy downrigger require?
It uses a 30-amp fuse. We recommend using Maxi fuse holders and Maxi fuses for the in-line fuse on the positive (white) wire lead. A 30-amp circuit breaker can be used as an alternative.
How should I wire the downrigger?
Each downrigger must have its own wiring with inline fuses. While fuses and circuit breakers can be used together, it is not mandatory.
Can I wire multiple downriggers on the same circuit?
No. Each downrigger should have a dedicated set of wires to ensure proper functionality and safety.
What wire gauge should I use?
-
Single downrigger (15 feet or less): Use 10/2 wiring.
-
Multiple riggers connected to a fuse/circuit panel: Use 4 or 6 gauge wire as the main feed and 10 gauge wire from the panel to each downrigger.
What plug is recommended?
We suggest using a Marineco (70 AMP) 3-wire charging/trolling system plug for the best performance.
How long is the line on the downrigger?
Each Traxstech Downrigger comes preloaded with 400 feet of stainless-steel line.
What is the line test strength?
The line is rated for 150# test.
Are replacement parts available?
Yes! Replacement Traxstech Electric Downrigger Covers are available for purchase.
